What the air does out here
Behind the bandstand at Mile 40, a small striped tent pours the midway's one after dark drink. String lights on, the band packing up, sweet almond liqueur over a kiss of cherry with soft vanilla settling in as the crowd thins. This is the pour that says the evening is ending on purpose, served in glasses too small to brag about.
Who rides with it
Nightcap people who know when the song is over. Couples staying for one more lap of nothing in particular. The tent pours exactly one size, and the size is polite.
Pair it at the next stop
This is the same almond you met at the gates, twelve hours later and better dressed; Almond Biscotti opens the day at Mile 39. As for the cherry, it arrived by the quart back in the valley, where Cherry Overload runs the stand at Mile 15. Here it arrives by the kiss.
